Aquanzo

Computer vision that counts, measures and tracks live artemia

Aquanzo is building a platform to track how artemia grow. We built the video-analysis engine behind it: from a short top-down clip it detects every organism, then counts them, measures their size in millimetres, and tracks how fast they move, automatically.

What it does

Counts every organism

Finds and counts every artemia in the frame, even in a crowded dish, instead of tallying them by eye.

Measures real size

Calibrates against a reference in the shot, so each organism is measured in millimetres, ready to track growth over time.

Tracks movement and speed

Follows each artemia frame by frame and measures how fast it moves, an objective read on how active a batch is.

Annotated video and data

Every run produces an annotated clip plus exportable data, so results are easy to review, share and compare.

Reproducible by design

Each analysis saves the exact settings used, so the same clip always gives the same numbers and samples stay comparable.

Runs privately

The whole pipeline runs on Aquanzo's own machines. No footage or data leaves their environment.

The challenge

Tracking artemia growth meant painstaking manual work: counting tiny organisms by eye, estimating sizes, and having no objective read on how active a batch was. It did not scale, and small differences between samples were easy to miss.

What we built

We built the video-analysis engine for Aquanzo's platform. Point a camera at a dish or tank, record a short top-down clip, and the system finds every artemia, follows each one frame by frame, and turns the footage into hard numbers: how many there are, how big they are in millimetres, and how fast they move.
