ChatGPT is introducing a useful new feature: temporary chats that are not saved to your history. Ideal for organisations that value privacy and efficiency.

Benefits of temporary chats

  1. Privacy and security: protect sensitive information by not having it stored.
  2. Targeted interactions: hold specific conversations without cluttering your permanent history.
  3. Workplace efficiency: use temporary interactions for projects and one-off tasks, without piling up history.

Workplace use cases

  • Project management: temporary chats for brainstorming or meetings.
  • Customer service: handle one-off customer questions efficiently.
  • Internal communication: communicate quickly and securely within teams without persistent storage.

How does it work?

When you select a model, you will see the 'Temporary chat' option at the bottom of the window (see screenshot below). Selecting it starts a temporary chat that is not saved to your history.
